MADISON (WRN) - President Barack Obama tells a Madison crowd it is time to make education reform the country's national mission. Obama made his speech in front of about 600 students, parents, teachers and others at Wright Middle School Wednesday afternoon. He pointed to the federal program called Race to the Top -- a $4.5 billion grant program promoting innovative approaches to education in states like Wisconsin. State lawmakers are expected to vote Thursday on a series of bills that would qualify the Badger State to compete for the federal money.
