EMMETT TOWNSHIP -- The “FireKeepers” Casino is red hot as money making enterprises go. They said their first goal was to pay off their loans and The Notawaseppi Band of Huron Indians seem to be headed in that direction as they have just announced they have paid off the 35-million dollar loan on their 2,600 slot machines after just five months of operation, and four years earlier than the loan was due.
Estimates are that they have taken in over 96-million dollars from their slot Machines alone, based on the money they have paid out to local governments, which is supposed to be 2% of their Slots revenue. That doesn’t include income from restaurants, table games, shops and other revenue generators at their Emmett Township Casino.
