UNDATED -- It may be because they are the newest, it may be because of their location, but The Four Winds and the FireKeeper’s Casinos are making more money per slot machine than any of the other Native American owned Casinos in the state. The slots are the profit centers for any casino.
Economist George Erickcek says more importantly for their local communities, they are drawing in money from outside the area, and not just recalculating the cash they had before. He says he can tell because he says it isn’t hurting other restaurants and entertainment venues in town.
He says their locations right off the interstate between two major population centers helps, particularly for the Firekeepers.
Four winds is taking in over $86-hundred a month per machine, Firekeepers is bringing in over $72-hundred per month.
The next closest is Soaring Eagle which earns about $54-hundred per machine each month. Some casinos in Northern Michigan earn as little as $24-hundred a month.
