GREEN BAY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Downtown Green Bay could land new development that will house a corporate headquarters for a major employer in the area.

An announcement is expected soon from Mayor Jim Schmitt.

Schmitt says he's been courting the business for the past couple of years. He won't say much, other than the company is among those listed in the 30 largest private employers in the Green Bay area.

Talks are centered on building at property currently home to part of the closed downtown mall.

The city expects to hear by the end of the week if federal dollars will be able to help tear down the old Washington Commons Mall. But Schmitt indicates a development project deal could also help in moving the demolition forward.
