KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Portage Schools are putting together a special task force to take a look at why some students and teachers at Portage Northern have claimed the place makes them sick. Two tests on the air quality in the new science wing have turned up negative, and now carbon monoxide detectors installed in every classroom in recent weeks have also failed to detect any problems.
Spokesman Tom Vance says parents are concerned and so the district will keep that part of the school closed and put the task force to work. Some of the parents who attended a forum this week on the issue said their children had elevated levels of carbon monoxide in their blood.
