WAYLAND, Mi (WKZO) - They may have their detractors, but casinos can be a boon to the town that hosts one, and Allegan County found out yesterday just what having the Gun Lake Casino in their back yard could mean to them.

Casino officials will mail a check for 2.1-million dollars for the state of Michigan and delivered one for $515-thousand to a local revenue sharing board for distribution to schools and area governments yesterday.

That's just for the months of February and March, the casino's first two months of business.

Their compact with the state requires that Local revenue-sharing payments will be issued twice a year.
