ALAMO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A family and their pets were sent fleeing from their home during the Super Bowl halftime when they realized that the side of their home was on fire.
It happened in the far northwest corner of Kalamazoo County on North 6th Street.
By the time they realized what was happening, called 9-1-1 and fire crews arrived, the flames had spread to the attic. They will be estimating the damage and looking for a cause, but there is speculation that it could have been due to a carelessly discarded cigarette butt.
