DETROIT (WKZO/WSJM) -- The Chrysler Super Bowl ad with Clint Eastwood highlighted the recovery in Detroit due to the resurgence of the auto industry, basically saying if they can do it, then the rest of America can too.
But how about west Michigan doing?
Industrial economist George Erickcek with the Upjohn Institute for Employment Research believes places like Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids have already seen some auto industry jobs growth and increases in other manufacturing.
Erickcek also notes that there would also be secondary benefits from stronger auto hiring, saying sectors like healthcare and hospitality could eventually grow, as well.
