BOWLING GREEN, OH (WKZO) -- Dane Walters returned to the line-up with authority last night at home. Recovering from an injury sustained in the Notre Dame series, Walters found the back of the net twice in the second period, helping Western Michigan to a 4-1 win over the Bowling Green Falcons at Lawson Ice Arena. Shane Bershbach added a score in the second, and Greg Squires scored an empty net goal in the final frame. 

Western Michigan improves to 13-9-5/10-6-3-3 in CCHA play. The win combined with both Ohio State and Miami losing, moves Western Michigan  the top spot in the CCHA standings.

The power play also played a  factor in the dominant win at home. Western Michigan was able to capitalize on one advantage opportunity while holding the Falcons scoreless in that category. The Bronco defense held Bowling Green to 5 shots-on-goal in the final period Frank Slubowski recorded 20 saves in the win.

Tonight, the series shifts to Bowling Green where the Broncos will look to build on their new ranking heading into the home stretch of the regular season.
