KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday, WWMT reported that a Jacksonville, FL sheriff’s deputy is being charged with criminal sexual conduct in Kalamazoo.
WWMT reported that the charges were authorized by Kalamazoo officials against 31-year-old David Gedert, who was hired by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in late 2018.
Reports say that Gedert was arrested on Tuesday, August 25 and fired from the office soon after. WWMT reported that a charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under 13 was filed, which comes from a case that occurred in Kalamazoo County in 2013.
Reports also say that the incident took place when Gedert was 24 and the victim was 12.
Gedert is currently lodged at the Duval County Jail in Florida and will be extradited back to Michigan.
