BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) — The oldest living person in Michigan has passed away.
Ellen Goodwill of Battle Creek turned 114 years old last month. A longtime friend told the Battle Creek Enquirer she died last Tuesday.
She was living at the Advantage Living Center in Battle Creek.
She became the oldest known resident in the state last May following the passing of Irene Dutton of Kalamazoo, who was 113 at the time of her death.
Ellen was born in Kentucky on February 2nd, 1907 before moving to Michigan with her husband after World War II. Teddy Roosevelt was President of the United States when she was born.
Along with being the oldest known living person in Michigan, she was also believed to be the third oldest living person in the United States, according to Wikipedia.
