BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek firefighters returned to a scene they have been to several times in recent months to put out a fire.
Early Tuesday, WWMT reports that crews responded to the home at 203 Post Avenue, which is also connected to a local double murder case. This was the third fire reported at the home since October of 2020. That month, Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies located the bodies of Jaclyn Lepird and Joseph Soule, who were believed to be murdered by their landlord Chad Reed who is awaiting trial.
Like the others, this fire is considered suspicious for arson. Some in the neighborhood would like the house to just be torn down, due to the ongoing fires there and its ties to the murder case.
Police ask anyone with information about any of these fires to contact police at 269-781-0911 or Silent Observer.
