ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Holland Michigan Kennel Club and President Kim Caines presented Sheriff Frank Baker with a check for
$13,500 last week during a gathering at the Sheriff’s office.
This donation was for the purchase of a new police K9. This will allow for the retirement of K9 Lajki, who has served since 2017.
Lajki was purchased with a donation in the spring of 2017 from the Holland Kennel Club.
The Holland Kennel Club also purchased long-retired K9 Lucky in the fall of 2010.
“The Holland Kennel Club and the Gun Lake Tribe are our two major sponsor of the K9 program,” department officials said in a statement. “Their partnerships have made it possible for the Sheriff’s office to purchase our K9 deputies and the specialized equipment needed. They also help provide the training that makes our community, deputies, and K9 deputies safer every day. These two organizations make everything possible for us and we again thank all members for the continued support.”
