KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo Township double homicide suspect is now heading to trial after not following through with a plea deal.
25-year-old D-Angelo Davis, along with his sister, Tonesha Taylor-McMillion were arrested on February 22, 2021 and charged with two counts of murder in relation to the deaths of Floyd Brashers Jr. and Katoya McPherson who were found dead on December 29, 2020, at the Oak Tree apartment complex on Nazareth Road.
Davis took a plead deal in exchange for his testimony against his brother Tikario Taylor-McMillion, also charged, and arrested in May of 2021.
In exchange for his plea, home invasion and weapons charges were dismissed. However, when his brother went on trial, he refused to testify, resulting in a mistrial for McMillion on Thursday, March 21.
The court moved to vacate Davis’s plea deal and proceed with the original charges.
Davis was scheduled to be sentenced Monday, April 4, but is now scheduled to go to trial on Monday, June 20.
