KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – When Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department deputies pulled up to the pump to refill their vehicles this week, their county issued credit card was frozen, again.
County officials have had to take emergency measures to get them back on the road. It wasn’t because they didn’t have the money, just that they set up a special 45 day payment schedule so they could make sure they had Commission approval for the bills, but the county Board of Commissioners only meets twice a month.
Administrator Kevin Catlin called it a glitch in their system.
Commissioner Jeff Heppler made the motion at last night Board of Commissioners meeting to approve the new weekly payment plan.
It’s the second time county employees found their cards frozen. It also briefly grounded the Health Department and others using county vehicles.
