CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN) – A suspect was taken into custody by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday night in connection with several crimes in the area.
The Sheriff’s Office Deputies was called to the area of 27 Mile Road near H Drive N in Sheridan Township to check on a subject in a vehicle.
The subject was reported to be possibly unconscious. He had been parked off the road for at least an hour, and brush was placed on the vehicle in an attempt to conceal it.
A 19-year-old Albion man was found inside the vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Office later found out the vehicle was stolen out of Jackson County and had several catalytic converters inside that were believed to be recently stolen.
The subject was identified as a person of interest in several stolen vehicles and break-ins in Calhoun and Jackson Counties and had pending burglary warrants out of Calhoun County.
He was taken into custody without incident and according to the Sheriff’s Office, confessed to several crimes in multiple jurisdictions including burglaries, stolen vehicles, and fleeing and eluding police.
During the interview, he also provided the location of another stolen vehicle from Pennfield Township which was later found and recovered in Jackson County.
