KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Kalamazoo is joining the list of the nation’s top 10 digital cities according to a report from the Center for Digital Government that ranked Kalamazoo number 10 in it’s 2022 Digital Cities Survey.
The CDG cited that Kalamazoo distinguished itself by working hard to improve it’s digital, citizen, and government experience through technology and leadership.
The survey went onto to say that the City’s Department of Information Technology was cited for its work in partnering with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety to collect and analyze data related to safety, along with implementing a new citywide security camera system and video conferencing to help with daily shift calls.
“Kalamazoo has always been highly regarded nationally for our digital initiatives, but this is the first time we have received a Top-Ten ranking,” said Tim Dubois, chief information officer, City of Kalamazoo. “We are obviously thrilled to be in an exclusive group among our national peers, and we are proud to see the efforts and work of our IT teams be awarded with such an honor.”
Digital Cities Survey winners were selected in five population categories.
The top 10-ranking cities in the categories, along with the Future Ready Award winner, will be honored during a Digital Cities Award event at the National League of Cities “City Summit” on Thursday, November 17, in Kansas City, Missouri.
