BURR OAK TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department has released details of a two vehicle crash last Friday afternoon that injured three persons.
Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says the crash happened at about 3:15 p.m. in the area of Kelly and Carpenterson Roads.
He says a 18-year-old female and her 18-year-old passenger, both of Sturgis, were heading north on Carpenterson Road when their vehicle ran a stop sign and struck an eastbound pickup truck driven by a 70-year-old man from Burr Oak.
The pickup went out of control and ended up being submerged in a nearby pond.
The driver of the pickup was able to get out of his vehicle.
The 18-year-old female driver was taken to Bronson Hospital by Air Care Services for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The 18-year-old male passenger was taken to Bronson Hospital by Life Care Ambulance for serious injuries.
The 70-year-old man who was driving the pickup was also transported to Bronson Hospital by Life Care Ambulance for serious injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.
