KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo City Commissioners are hoping for a good turnout on Wednesday afternoon, November 30 when they plan a meet and greet for the candidates for Kalamazoo City Attorney.
Commissioners met in a special session Monday evening, November 28 to schedule the public event, and three interview sessions with the candidates on Thursday, December 1.
Jeff Meuller, with the Michigan Municipal League, who did the initial screenings says city commissioners can also attend the Wednesday event, but just to observe. He says they will get their chance on Thursday in the formal interview sessions.
Muller said also that while many are leaving city government, not a lot of younger people coming up in the ranks.
Commissioners are looking for a replacement for Clyde Robinson, who announced his retirement plans earlier this year.
The meet and greet gets underway on Wednesday, November 30 at City Hall at 4 p.m. Interviews on Thursday November 28 begin at 8:30 a.m.
Commissioners could pick the winner on Thursday if a clear favorite emerges.
