KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Alongside the $51 million investment of rebuilding and repaving of 13.4 miles of US-131 from Three Rivers to Shaver Road south of Portage and Kalamazoo City, The Michigan Department of Transportation is getting set to invest $1.1 million to repave 4 miles of M-96 in Kalamazoo County.
According to MDOT, the section of road to get the work done will be from Burgess Drive in Galesburg to East G Avenue in Augusta.
The work is set to begin on Monday, May 1 and MDOT officials say the work will result in a smother driving surface of the road, increasing safety and extending the life of the roadway.
They say however drivers should expect lane closures and traffic regulators throughout the duration of the work which they expect to have finished by Friday, May 19.
Based on economic modeling, officials say this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly 13 jobs.
