KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – On Saturday, May 13, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will host the 31st Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, which on average collects over 90,000 pounds of food for Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, Salvation Army of Kalamazoo, and Christian Neighbors.
Data indicates that over 37,000 people in Kalamazoo County face food insecurity daily and over 6,500 of them are are children.
As a part of the drive, residents are encouraged to leave non-perishable, unopened food donations near their mailboxes on the morning of Saturday, May 13.
Food items that are most in need include high protein canned soups, cereal, protein drinks, baking mixes, pop-top cans, snacks, and microwaveable items (e.g. ravioli or rice in bag).
Donations will be picked up, rain or shine.
