PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) -The Portage Rotary Club honored Portage Mayor Patricia M. Randall with its 31st Community Service Award on Wednesday, May 10.
The ceremony took place at a special meeting of the club at the Portage Zhang Senior Center.
When asked about receiving the prestigious award, Mayor Randall said, “It is an honor to be recognized by the Rotarians and follow in previous public servants’ footsteps. I love working with people, building consensus, and reaching goals to continually move our city and other organizations forward.”
Portage Rotary President, Emily Turner cited Randall’s stewardship of the capital campaign for the Portage Senior Center.
“Her leadership on this project raised awareness in both public and private sectors, a strategic collaboration which resulted in the joint funding of an $11 million project that has reshaped the Portage City Center and paved the way for future development and engagement of our growing senior demographic,” said Turner.
Randall has served the City of Portage as Mayor since 2017 and before that as a Councilmember beginning in 2009.
