KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Nomination Packets now available for the offices of Kalamazoo Mayor and City Commissioner.
Those looking to run for either office can pick up their nomination packet at the Kalamazoo City Clerk’s Office during current business hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
According to the Kalamazoo City Charter, a person seeking the office of Mayor or City Commissioner shall be a resident of, and qualified elector in the City of Kalamazoo at the time of filing for election or appointment to to the office.
The Municipal Election scheduled to be held November 7th.
Important dates for potential candidates are as follows:

May 26, 2023 – Candidates may begin circulating nominating petitions

July 25, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. – Deadline for nomination petitions and affidavits of identity to be filed with the Kalamazoo City Clerk’s Office

July 28, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. – Last day for eligible candidates to withdraw their candidacy
At the November 7 Municipal Election, citizens will elect three Commissioners to four-year terms, and a Mayor to a two-year term.
