CENTREVILLE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A suspect wanted in connection with two homicides in St Joseph County has been killed.
30 year old David Algarin, Jr., was suspected in connection with two shooting incidents near Sturgis on Saturday that claimed the lives of a man and woman.
Algarin was spotted Sunday morning in the city of Sturgis by Sturgis Police officers, who began a pursuit of the suspect along with deputies from the St Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.
The pursuit ended in an officer involved shooting in Branch County resulting in the death of the suspect.
The shooting is currently being investigated by the Michigan State Police.
Names of the victims, a 39 year old woman and 61 year old man, have not been released pending notification of next of kin
A joint press conference of the Sturgis Department of Public Safety, St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police will take place in the afternoon on Monday, August 7th.
CENTREVILLE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – St Joseph County authorities are seeking a suspect in connection with two suspected homicides.
Sturgis police were summoned to a residence on South Centerville Road near South Street in the city of Sturgis Saturday, August 5 on a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 39-year-old woman with a shotgun wound. The victim later died of her injuries.
Further investigation identified a possible suspect in the shooting as 30 year old David Algarin, Jr.
The suspect was seen driving a black 1999 Honda CR-V, Michigan license plate BUS661.
Later in the day, sheriff’s deputies were called to a house in the 3100 block of US 31, on a report that the suspect might be there.
Algarin was not there, but deputies discovered a 61-year-old man inside the house who had been shot, and who was deceased.
Algarin is considered armed and dangerous, and members of the public are urged not to approach him should he be seen.
