BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek Police have confirmed the identity of a man who was killed during a string of shootings last week in the Cereal City.
Authorities say 27-year-old Elmarko Fontane Williams Jr. of Battle Creek died on Thursday, August 3 after he was shot in the area of Maple Terrace around 1:30 a.m. According to police, Williams had been shot in the torso.
Responding officers provided medical assistance until LifeCare Ambulance arrived and took him to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate this incident as a part of the string of shootings and believe the shootings are related, stemming from an ongoing dispute between two groups of individuals.
So far, William’s death has been the only one reporting from the shootings. Police do not believe that the public is in danger and say they are taking proactive measures to stop the string of violence.
