CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 66-year-old man died Thursday night in a St. Joseph County fire.
Deputies from the St Joseph County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 13000 block of Riverside Drive in Constantine Township just after 10:00 p.m. for the report of a structure fire. The residence was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.
Neighbors were evacuated due to safety concerns involving power lines and the flames proximity to propane tanks at the residence.
The victim was removed from the residence, where he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name is not being released pending family notification.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Undersheriff Jason Bingaman said the St Joseph County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Constantine and White Pigeon Fire Departments, the Michigan State Police, White Pigeon Police and Life Care Ambulance.
