SPRINGFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Four persons were injured early Friday morning in a crash on Dickman Road east of Helmer Road.
Deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash at 3:43 a.m..
They determined that a pickup truck and a Caravan which were traveling in opposite directions hit head on. As the vehicles were coming to a rest after the collision, one of them struck a passing motorist on a moped.
A 31-year-old woman from the Caravan and a 50-year-old man from the pickup both had to be extricated from their vehicles.
They along with a passenger in the pickup and a 36-year-old man who was on the moped were taken to local hospitals with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
Dickman Road had to be shut down in both directions for over an hour while the injured were tended to and the incident was investigated.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor.
Deputies were assisted by Springfield Fire Department, The Department of Veteran Affairs Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance Service.
