BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two schools in Calhoun County have temporarily resumed virtual learning for some students after COVID-19 outbreaks.
At least seven cases have been confirmed at Harper Creek Middle School, which means 5th and 6th-grade students are now learning from home until Monday, September 20th. Lakeview High School has also reportedly gone virtual until Monday, September 27th.
Michigan health officials define an outbreak as at least two cases through shared exposure. Calhoun County does not have any mask mandates for schools, but some schools are doing it on their own.
Recent numbers from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services linked nearly 100 COVID-19 infections to outbreaks in West Michigan schools.
