UPDATE – Portage Public Safety, with assistance from a Kalamazoo Dept. of Public Safety K-9 unit, have arrested Kenneth Dale Kelley in connection with the Friday morning stabbing of his father. The suspect was arrested following a tip that he had been spotted along a nearby road. Kelley was taken into custody without incident. The case has been referred to the County Prosecutor’s office for charges.

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Portage are looking for a suspect considered to be armed and dangerous who is accused of stabbing his father. At around 5:00 Friday morning, police responded to the 3000 block of Hamlin in the Colonial Acres Manufactured Home Park.
Officers found 63-year-old Michael Kelley outside the residence with a stab wound to the stomach. He was transported by ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital and his current condition has not been reported.
The victim’s son, Kenneth Dale Kelley, has been identified as the suspect. He was last seen fleeing the scene on foot and may be armed with a knife. He is described as a 31-year-old white male, approximately 6’3” and 170 pounds, with red hair.
