CENTREVILLE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single vehicle crash that killed a 21-year-old Constantine man but left a one-year-old child unharmed.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash Tuesday at 7:50 a.m. on Centreville-Constantine Road between Roys Road and Sevison Road.
Investigators say the vehicle was traveling southwest on Centreville-Constantine Road before crossing the center line and drifting off the roadway to the left. The vehicle then struck multiple trees before coming to a stop.
First responders had to extract the 21-year-old driver who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Life saving measures were attempted, however the driver succumbed to his injuries on scene.
A one-year-old child, who was properly secured in the rear seat, was uninjured, however was transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
At this time, deputies believe speed to be a factor.
