PAW PAW MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two men face numerous charges after a shooting incident in South Haven and a high-speed chase that ended at the Van Buren-Kalamazoo County line.
Officers from the South Haven Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of Michigan Ave.
Upon arrival, the officers noticed a sedan leaving the area of the alleged incident, and began to pursue it.
The suspect vehicle led authorities on a high-speed chase through Van Buren County, ending at the county line with Kalamazoo, after sheriff’s deputies deployed stop sticks.
Two weapons were found, one that matched casings found on the ground near the house where the original shots were fired.
One of the weapons was found to be stolen, and the other was not registered.
Two men, a 27 year old and a 22 year old, both from Kalamazoo, were arrested and taken to the Van Buren County Jail.
In addition to the spent casings, a piece of clothing was found at the South Haven house that belonged to one of the suspects.
It is believed that no one was injured in either incident.
The South Haven Police Department was assisted in the pursuit and arrests by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, the Bangor Police Department, Michigan State Police, Paw Paw Post, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, and Mattawan Police Department.
