BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN) – The Battle Creek Public Schools school board voted on Monday night to move forward with the next steps for a bond measure to transform Northwestern Middle School into a K-8 visual and performing arts academy and make building renovations to Springfield Middle School.
The $45 million bond proposal will be submitted to the Michigan Department of Treasury in January so that the measure can appear on the ballot for a public vote next May.
The district began sharing information about this project a few weeks ago and they said in a statement released Monday night they have had “amazing feedback” from the community.
They are planning to get more community feedback to help shape the project. That input will be provided by surveys, focus groups, collaboration meetings and other formats.
