KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo City Commissioner Don Cooney says the city should join other Michigan communities that have called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas now that the fighting has resumed.
Detroit, Ann Arbor, Hamtramck and Oakland County, have either passed resolutions, or are considering them. Cooney says it’s time they do the same.
It’s not exactly clear if action here will have any impact half a world away, but Cooney says its important that a stand be taken.
Cooney also quoted Dr. Martin Luther King Junior.
Ypsilanti’s city council passed one backing the Palestinian cause, and then was forced to rescind it after a public outcry.
Cooney’s proposal would just support a cease fire.
