KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo city commissioners will hold a special meeting later this afternoon to take a deep dive into their 2025 proposed budget.
Like any budget, most of the $85-million they expect to spend has already been committed to paying ongoing expenses and bills. That includes salaries, services, debts and infrastructure projects.
City Manager Jim Ritsema will have recommendations for other initiatives, based on what the commission has already laid down as their priorities for the new year.
He says a copy of the recommendation can be viewed online.
Mayor Dave Anderson says the public is invited to the budget session.
Among the commissioners priorities for 2025 are that they promote youth, diversity, opportunity and the environment and that the community be safe, inviting, connected and well governed.
