KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Every elected body has its old hands, its senior members who have served for decades, unless of course they are term limited.
With the year coming to an end the Kalamazoo County board presented vice chair pro-tem Jeff Heppler with a surprise award for his longevity.
Commissioner John Gisler read the proclamation.
Heppler has represented townships on the northeast side of the county for 20 years, going on 24 now that he was just reelected again.
He has survived more than one redistricting, as well as serving as the police chief in Augusta, and on other local boards and commissions during his tenure.
