KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The search has begun for Western Michigan University’s 10th president as Dr. Edward Montgomery has announced his plans for retirement.
Board chair Shelly Edgerton says they have already begun taking nominations for the job and have held community input sessions.
President Montgomery received the results of his latest and final evaluation at this week’s board meeting and got a bump in his salary.
Edgerton praised Montgomery for record retention and enrollment numbers, improved graduation rates, balanced budgets, and for bringing in union contracts and new research projects.
Montgomery’s last day on the job will be next June 30th.
